Pakistan Summons Indian Diplomat Over Killing of Two Civilians Near Kasur
Foreign Office demands an investigation after two Pakistani civilians were killed and another injured in firing near the international border.

Pakistan protests the killing of two civilians in firing near the Kasur border
ISLAMABAD, October 3, 2026: Pakistan has summoned India’s chargé d’affaires to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians in firing involving Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the international border in the Bedian sector.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), two unarmed civilians were killed and another was injured in the incident near Kasur on Friday. The FO described the firing as unprovoked and said the use of lethal force against civilians was unjustified.
Pakistan Demands Investigation
The Foreign Office rejected the characterization of the deceased as “infiltrators” and called for an immediate, transparent and credible investigation.
Pakistan also urged India to take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those responsible. The FO called on New Delhi to formally share the investigation’s findings and the action taken with Islamabad.
Furthermore, Pakistan urged Indian authorities to respect fundamental human rights and international law. It also called for adherence to bilateral arrangements and established border procedures.
The Foreign Office said India should exercise maximum restraint in similar situations and take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Two Civilians Killed, One Injured
The three civilians were residents of Ladhar village, according to security sources cited by Pakistani media.
The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli, Ladhar. The third civilian sustained injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
Security sources said the three men had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar when the firing occurred. They said all three were unarmed and had not attempted to cross the border fence.
Those claims have been reported by Pakistani state media and Dawn based on security sources. The circumstances of the incident have not been independently established by the reports cited here.
Incident Adds to Pakistan-India Tensions
The incident comes amid renewed tensions between Pakistan and India.
A day earlier, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed Indian claims involving an alleged militant linked to the Pakistani military. During the briefing, he said Pakistan’s armed forces remained prepared to respond to any military action and warned of severe consequences.
The latest border incident has added another point of friction between the two neighbouring countries as Islamabad seeks an investigation and accountability over the deaths.
