Pakistan Hockey and Kabaddi Teams Maintain Strong Asian Games Starts

Pakistan’s hockey and kabaddi teams maintained their strong starts at the Asian Games on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the boxing campaign began with a defeat. Fencers, soft tennis players and table tennis players also endured difficult outings.

Pakistan’s hockey team defeated Uzbekistan 5-1 at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.

Hockey Team Claims Second Win

The opening quarter ended without a goal. Mohammad Ammad broke the deadlock in the 18th minute.

Uzbekistan responded before half-time. Shokhrukhbek Salimjonov converted a penalty corner in the 30th minute.

The equaliser sparked a strong response from Pakistan.

Just three minutes after the restart, Sufyan Khan restored the lead. He converted a penalty corner for his third goal of the tournament.

Abdul Rehman extended the advantage in the 40th minute. Another penalty corner produced Pakistan’s third goal.

Abu Mahmood then scored from a penalty to make it 4-1.

Pakistan Beat Bangladesh to Win Women’s Cricket Bronze at Asian Games

Sufyan completed the scoring in the 57th minute. His second goal of the match sealed another convincing victory.

Pakistan opened the tournament with a 9-0 win over Thailand.

China await them next. The match will take place on Thursday.

China also defeated Thailand, winning 8-1.

Kabaddi Side Beats Nepal

Pakistan’s kabaddi team also recorded its second victory.

The team defeated Nepal 58-43 in a Group B match at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium.

Captain Mudassar Ali led Pakistan to a 30-17 half-time advantage.

Nepal improved after the interval. However, the early deficit proved too large.

Pakistan’s defence forced six all-outs. Their raiders also collected eight bonus points.

The team recorded 44 outs during the contest.

Thailand will provide the next challenge on Wednesday.

Boxing Campaign Starts With Defeat

Pakistan’s boxing campaign began with a loss.

Sumama Rehman faced Tajikistan’s 19-year-old Meroj Sufijonov in the 55kg preliminary bout at Nishio Gymnasium.

The 24-year-old Pakistani boxer showed determination throughout the three rounds.

However, Sufijonov landed more punches. He also knocked Sumama down in the third round.

The Tajik boxer secured a unanimous-decision victory.

Fencers End Individual Campaigns

Pakistan’s Baryal Khan and Mohammed Yaseen Khan struggled in the men’s foil individual event at Aichi Sky Expo Hall.

Baryal lost all five of his bouts. India’s Sachin defeated him 5-0 in his opening contest.

South Korea’s Jeonghyun Youn then beat Baryal 5-1.

Further defeats came against Mongolia’s Chingis Narmandakh, Kazakhstan’s Galim Nurumov and Chinese Taipei’s Chih-Chieh Chen.

Yaseen, 18, also endured a difficult day.

Four of his five bouts ended in 5-0 defeats. His closest contest came against Kazakhstan’s Timofey Semyonov, who won 5-1.

Qatar’s Abdulrahman Poorgharib, South Korea’s Kwanghyun Lee, Oman’s Ahmed Keskes and China’s Zhaoran Zheng also defeated him 5-0.

Soft Tennis and Table Tennis Players Lose

Pakistan’s soft tennis players suffered further setbacks.

Eraj Zaidi and Kainaat Shallwani each lost both singles matches 4-0 at the Nagoya City Higashiyama Park Tennis Centre.

The men’s section produced a similar result. Mohammad Ali and Hussain Arain failed to win a game in their respective matches.

Table tennis also brought disappointment.

Mohammad Khan and Kulsoom Khan lost their mixed doubles first-round match 3-0.

Nepal’s Rubin Maharjan and Evana Thapa secured the victory.

Usman Khan Drops to 20th in Eventing

Pakistan’s Usman Khan slipped to 20th place in the individual eventing competition.

The show jumping phase took place on Tuesday.

Riding Eden du Veret, also known as Mirage, Usman collected 44.70 penalty points.

The round included eight jumping penalties. Those penalties equalled two knocked rails.

His combined score now stands at 77.34.

The 45-year-old rider had ranked 19th after the dressage phase. He recorded 36.70 penalties from a score of 63.33 per cent.

Wednesday’s cross-country phase offers his next opportunity to improve his position.

Wushu Brings Another Defeat

Pakistan’s Amin Ullah also exited the competition after a quarter-final defeat.

Vietnam’s Van Tam Dinh beat him 2-0 in the men’s 56kg wushu bout.

The contest took place at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.

Pakistan Have Two Bronze Medals

Pakistan have won two medals at the Asian Games so far.

The national women’s cricket team secured a bronze medal in the women’s competition.

Mixed martial artist Asim Khan also claimed bronze for Pakistan.
