Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expanded the Honhaar Scholarship Program to students across all provinces, ensuring that exceptional students from every region can benefit from the initiative.
During a meeting in Lahore, CM Maryam approved the extension of the scholarship to students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She also announced a significant increase in the number of laptops allocated to students, raising the total to 110,000. Additionally, she directed the establishment of a dedicated helpline to assist students with scholarship-related inquiries.
Emphasizing the importance of education, CM Maryam stated, “Our youth and education are the greatest assets of our nation. I want every student to have access to a laptop. The Honhaar Scholarship Program and the laptop initiative are not privileges but rights, and it is the government’s responsibility to provide them.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting students from all regions, stressing that those who meet the merit criteria should not face financial barriers to higher education. “Any deserving student should be able to gain admission to a reputable college, and the government will cover their tuition fees,” she assured.
To ensure transparency and accessibility, the Punjab government has set a minimum eligibility requirement of 65% marks for students applying for the laptop scheme. The dedicated helpline will further facilitate students in navigating the scholarship and laptop application process.
This expansion marks a significant step toward making higher education more inclusive and accessible for students nationwide.
