Karachi Traffic Plan Enforced as Chehlum Procession Brings Road Closures Across City
Authorities announce extensive diversions, heavy security deployment and alternative routes as the Chehlum procession begins from Nishtar Park.

Karachi Traffic authorities have introduced a comprehensive traffic management plan for Tuesday’s Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), with major road closures and diversions across the city. The main procession will begin at 9am from Nishtar Park and conclude at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar after passing through its designated route.
The Traffic Police said MA Jinnah Road from Guru Mandir to Tower will remain closed to all traffic because of security arrangements. Officials urged commuters to use the alternative routes announced for different districts to avoid delays and congestion.

In District East, traffic from Hasan Square towards Peoples Chowrangi will divert through Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shahra-e-Quaideen, Jail Flyover and Teen Hatti before reaching Nishtar Road. Vehicles travelling from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards Numaish will also use Kashmir Road.
Traffic from Jamshed Road near the Central Jail Gate heading towards Guru Mandir will divert through Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar. In District South, motorists travelling from Garden Zoo towards MA Jinnah Road will use Uncle Saria, Gul Plaza and the Coast Guard route.

Heavy Traffic Restrictions
Traffic Police have issued separate arrangements for heavy vehicles. Trucks arriving from the Super Highway and heading towards MA Jinnah Road will travel through Liaquatabad No. 10, Nazimabad No. 2, SITE Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Sher Shah and Mauripur. Authorities will use the same route for returning traffic.
Heavy vehicles entering Karachi through the National Highway will follow Shahrah-e-Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hasan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, Nazimabad No. 2, SITE Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road and Sher Shah before reaching Mauripur.
Police will not allow any heavy or light vehicle to travel beyond Guru Mandir towards the procession route. Authorities have also banned vehicle entry onto MA Jinnah Road, except for procession vehicles displaying authorised stickers. Those vehicles may enter through Society Light Signal on Shahra-e-Quaideen.
Nearly 5,000 Police Personnel Deployed
Karachi Police have also implemented a comprehensive security plan for the Chehlum procession and related religious gatherings.
Authorities will deploy 4,994 police officers and personnel, supported by 139 police vehicles, across the city. Security measures include checkpoints at Nishtar Park, deployment along the procession route, surveillance at entry and exit points, CCTV monitoring, search and strike teams, rooftop snipers, hospital security, alternative route management and emergency response units.
