KARACHI – Police have arrested a domestic worker accused of stealing Rs50 million over a period of 13 years from a bungalow in Defence Phase 5, using the stolen funds to build a personal empire of properties and vehicles.
According to authorities, the maid had been employed at the bungalow since 2013. A formal complaint was registered at Clifton Police Station on June 16 by the homeowner, prompting swift police action. During questioning, the maid admitted to stealing the amount over the years.
Investigations revealed that the accused invested the stolen money in various assets, including:
- A flat in Gizri worth Rs5 million
- Two plots in Punjab valued at Rs3.6 million
- Vehicles worth Rs10 million
- A shop worth Rs7 million
Police also recovered vehicles, motorcycles, and Rs4.6 million in cash, while her properties and shop have been sealed. Officials confirmed that the woman acted alone, without any known accomplices.
The homeowner disclosed that her husband resides abroad for business purposes, and the maid had remained a trusted household member for over a decade — during which time she allegedly carried out the theft unnoticed.
