KARACHI – A new spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin in Karachi on Tuesday, July 15, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Light to moderate rain is likely across Karachi and other parts of Sindh from July 15 to 17.

On Monday morning, various parts of Karachi experienced light drizzles under overcast skies. The sea breeze has resumed mildly, providing slight relief from the heat. More drizzle or light showers are anticipated later this evening or night.

Temperatures in Karachi may rise above 35°C, with humidity hovering around 78%.

Meanwhile, the PMD has issued a red alert for potential flash flooding in streams, drains, and hilly areas across several regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Murree, Galliyat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, D.G. Khan, northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Balochistan due to anticipated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The Met Office has also warned of possible landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Strong monsoon currents may result in flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding from Monday evening through Tuesday.
