Beirut: At least three people were killed and six others injured on Monday after fresh Israeli airstrikes targeted southern Lebanon despite an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, according to Lebanese media reports.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that two people were killed and five others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Ebba in the Nabatieh region.
In a separate attack, an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in the town of Haris, killing one person and injuring his brother, the report added.
Lebanese media further stated that Israeli warplanes also struck the residence of a former municipal chief in Sajd, while another attack was reported in Kfar Rumman. Authorities did not immediately release casualty details from those incidents.
The latest escalation comes despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since April 17 and later extended until mid-May. However, Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have continued exchanging fire and carrying out near-daily military operations across southern Lebanon.
According to official Lebanese figures, Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed at least 2,846 people, injured 8,693 others, and displaced more than one million residents across the country.
The renewed violence has intensified regional concerns ahead of planned peace talks expected to take place in Washington on May 14–15 under United States mediation.
Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent a broader regional conflict as tensions remain high along the Israel-Lebanon border.
