Business leader and former president of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Shahid Rasheed Butt, stated on Friday that the threat of war in the region is not diminishing but is steadily escalating.
He said that India is actively trying to identify weaknesses in Pakistan’s defense system to launch a decisive attack, not realizing it would be a grave mistake.
Shahid Rasheed Butt asserted that China is no longer simply a friendly nation; it has become a true brother to Pakistan and called for enhanced strategic cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement issued here today, Shahid Rashid Butt emphasized that those attempting to incite unrest within Pakistan during such sensitive times are acting against national interests and should be regarded as traitors.
He pointed out that narrow-minded India has never sincerely accepted Pakistan and consistently seeks to harm us; therefore, our existence relies on a formidable defence.
The business leader argued that Pakistan’s nuclear capability serves as a strong deterrent to India’s aggressive ambitions and called for further enhancement of this capability to ensure long-term freedom and security.
Shahid Rasheed Butt described South Asia as being at a crucial crossroads, with India unwilling to abandon its war hysteria or retreat from its aggressive stance.
He criticized the military exercises being conducted under the moniker “Operation Shield” in four Indian states, labelling them as deliberate attempts to escalate border tensions.
India has not only faced defeat on the battlefield but has also experienced diplomatic isolation. Faced with this pressure, the Modi government is once again stoking war hysteria in the region, he observed.
He added that India perceives ceasefire agreements merely as temporary tactics to buy time for war preparations. However, Pakistan will give a robust response and will never compromise on its sovereignty, security, or national interests.
Shahid Rashid Butt urged the international community to take serious notice of India’s provocations and military drills. He warned that if India is not restrained from its aggressive path, not only will South Asia suffer, but the peace of the entire world will also be at risk.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s unity, internal stability, and national cohesion are more crucial than ever. Any attempt to divide the nation from within only serves the enemy’s interests. Political forces, civil society, and institutions must remain united to confront growing external threats and protect national sovereignty.
