Hanif Gohar Elected ABAD Chairman Unopposed for 2026-28

KARACHI, September 29, 2026: Muhammad Hanif Gohar has been elected unopposed as Chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) for the 2026-28 term.

The election was held during ABAD’s Annual General Body Meeting at ABAD House in Karachi. Hanif Memon and Fayyaz Ilyas had also submitted nomination papers for the chairman’s post but later withdrew in favour of Hanif Gohar.

Members also elected Danish bin Rauf as Senior Vice Chairman and Syed Khursheed Alam as Vice Chairman by consensus.

Members Elect New ABAD Leadership

Speaking at the meeting, ABAD Patron-in-Chief Mohsin Sheikhani paid tribute to the outgoing office-bearers for their services to the association and the construction sector.

Sheikhani said ABAD members had remained united while addressing industry challenges and supporting the growth of the construction sector. He said the association had developed into a strong institution because of the collective efforts of its members.

He expressed hope that the new leadership would continue working for the development of the construction industry and the national economy.

Newly elected Chairman Hanif Gohar thanked ABAD members for their confidence. He said he would work for the welfare of all members without discrimination and use his capabilities to promote Pakistan’s construction industry.

Gohar said the strength of ABAD depended on unity among its members. He also praised outgoing Chairman Muhammad Hassan Bakshi and his team for their services during their tenure.

Bakshi Highlights Industry Challenges

Outgoing Chairman Muhammad Hassan Bakshi congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and praised Mohsin Sheikhani for his guidance and support.

Bakshi said the previous year had been economically challenging for the construction sector. He expressed confidence that the new ABAD leadership would build on the progress achieved during his tenure.

He said ABAD had played a role in Pakistan’s development for more than five decades, while its members had helped provide housing to millions of people.

Bakshi also highlighted ABAD’s efforts on taxation issues, including its campaign concerning Section 7E of the Income Tax Ordinance and Federal Excise Duty.

Outgoing Senior Vice Chairman Syed Afzal Hameed also congratulated the new office-bearers and pledged continued support for ABAD’s members and the construction sector.

Allied Panel Members Elected

Earlier, elections were held for the Central Executive Committee. Members of the Allied Panel were elected unopposed to the committee.

The elected members included Amir Amin Thara, Affan Qureshi, Danish Taloo, Fayyaz Ilyas, Muhammad Haroon Karim, Nadeem Jeewa, Mansoor Aziz, Muhammad Hanif Memon, Muhammad Kashif Sheikh, Muhammad Suleman Saleem, Muhammad Nasir Lakhani, Raheel Ranch, Rais Ahmed, Rameez Ghaziani, Syed Moez Zaidi, Nusrat Mirza Chughtai, Younis Lakhani, Hanif Gohar, Muhammad Mujtaba Ikram, Syed Khursheed Alam, Moez Saqib, Uzair Sheikh, Danish bin Rauf, Zohaib Aslam and Muhammad Ayub.

ABAD has also continued to engage government and other stakeholders on issues affecting builders, developers and the wider construction sector.
