KARACHI: Mohammed Nehal Hashmi lauded Karachi’s renowned hospitality during a high-profile diplomatic dinner that brought together international envoys, political leaders, and members of the business community.

The event, hosted by prominent businessmen Ather Iqbal and Irfan Fadoo at a private residence in DHA, served as an important platform for dialogue and engagement among diverse stakeholders.
A large number of foreign diplomats attended the gathering, led by Sami Abdullah Salim Al Khanjari, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. Representatives from countries including the United Kingdom, China, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Bangladesh were present, along with Jaesun Uh.
The gathering also included senior political figures such as Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, as well as members of the national and provincial assemblies, and senior government and law enforcement officials.
Speaking informally to the media, Governor Hashmi described the event as a remarkable example of Pakistan’s soft power and ability to foster unity amid global tensions. He commended the hosts for bringing together what he termed the “cream of society” and the diplomatic community in a peaceful and welcoming environment.
“It is a testament to our resilience and hospitality that such diverse stakeholders can come together to exchange views with mutual respect,” he said, referring to ongoing geopolitical sensitivities, particularly in the Gulf region.
Foreign diplomats attending the event also praised Karachi, highlighting the city’s warmth and welcoming nature. They noted that such informal gatherings provide valuable opportunities to discuss regional developments and global challenges in a relaxed setting.
The event was widely viewed as a successful bridge-building initiative, reinforcing Karachi’s position as a dynamic hub for international diplomacy and engagement.
