Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), has apprised that major Pakistani IT services providers, startups and exporters will be participating in the global event of GITEX in Dubai during October 14 – 18; and, presenting, positioning and flaunting export potential of Pakistan vis-à-vis IT industry.
Sajjad Mustafa Syed explained the importance of GITEX Dubai for the economy of Pakistan and exports of Pakistan as that there will be representation of IT sector of 180 countries; more than 200,000 sizeable trade buyers of IT services; 65,000 top-level IT executives from world over and 7,000 multinational companies of IT and allied industries. We are expecting to generate leads of up to $500 million for the country, he added.
Chairman P@SHA informed that following the powerhouse presence of P@SHA members in the Pakistan Pavilion in previous GITEX Global editions in coordination and support of special investment facilitation council (SIFC); Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT); Tech Destination Pakistan and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan has been declared 2024 event’s Tech Destination of the Year. It’s an achievement on a global-scale, he added.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for IT & Telecommunication (MoITT), said that

Muhammad Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman P@SHA and Chairman of Brand Committee, stressed that innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusion are the keys to rapid growth in IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) industry – and, IT is an industry in Pakistan that is having a number of firsts and pluses: (i) only major industry in Pakistan having a trade surplus and that too with a margin of 77 percent (ii) has the capability to earn foreign exchange to the tune of $5 billion in FY25 (iii) can bridge Pakistan’s overall trade deficit dramatically (iv) stabilize the economy in general through exponential growth; curtailed volatility in rupee-dollar parity; building foreign exchange reserves (FER) for the country and creating employment quickly (v) develop highly-skilled professionals in big numbers for domestic and international markets.
