NEW YORK : Grace Jamieson, 20, from South America, found it difficult to shower while wearing contact lenses. Grace Jamieson shared her story on social media, saying that she was on a trip during the holidays when she took a shower with her contact lenses in. Showering with the lenses in caused Grace to develop a serious eye infection (Acanthamoeba), Grace started showing signs of infection a few days later, after which Grace contacted an ophthalmologist and unfortunately, the doctor misdiagnosed her condition and prescribed her steroid drops, which worsened the infection. Within just a week, Grace completely lost her vision due to the infection and remained blind for about 2 months until she received the correct diagnosis and started better treatment.
