In a deeply disturbing case from India, a father has been arrested for fatally assaulting his daughter after she underperformed in a mock test for medical college admissions.
The incident occurred in Neelkaranji village, Maharashtra, where 45-year-old Dhondi Ram Bhosale, a school teacher by profession, attacked his daughter Sadhana with a wooden stick—specifically, the handle of a traditional stone flour grinder—after she failed to achieve the expected marks.
Despite Sadhana having previously scored an impressive 92.60% in her matric exams, her father reportedly became furious over her latest test results. The violent assault took place in front of her mother and left Sadhana critically injured.
She was immediately taken to a hospital but tragically passed away during treatment. Her mother later filed a complaint with the police, resulting in the father’s arrest.
The horrifying incident has caused widespread anger and brought renewed attention to the extreme academic pressure placed on students, as well as the urgent need to challenge harmful parental expectations.
