Houston TEX USA : In the American city of Houston, where Pakistani political activities are at their peak, literary activities are no less than any other. Here on Tuesday, renowned poet, anchor and social figure Farah Iqbal (Khaabgar) organized a poetry recital and dinner in honor of Mehmood Ahmed Khan (Organizer of the Karachi Poetry Recitation Festival), a guest visiting from Pakistan. Which was supported by well-known social figure Dr. Asif Qadeer (Riyaz Sakhan) and Nasreen Azmat (Hovacare Welfare Organization). The guest of honor was Dr. Asif Qadeer and the special guest was Mahmood Ahmed Khan.
At the ceremony, Mahmood Ahmed Khan was also awarded an award for his service to the Urdu language. Mahmood Ahmed Khan shared some important things with the people of Houston regarding the Mushaira, including the election of the Senate and the presidency, and Farah Iqbal’s participation and success in the Mushaira last year. He said that he has been organizing this poetry festival for the past 30 years and that poetry and poets are his passion and taste. He is a banker by profession. In particular, in response to a question about why poets from abroad are not given the presidency of such big poetry festivals, he said that when senior poets like Iftikhar Arif, Professor Sahar Ansari, and Pirzada Qasim are sitting in front of us, the question of anyone else presiding over them does not arise.
His position in the world of literature is authoritative and the presidency is always based on seniority. The participants welcomed Mahmood Ahmed Khan’s ideas and appreciated his passion. On the same day, due to the Indo-Pakistan war, PAGH President Siraj Narsi expressed his views before the ceremony and poets also recited their poems on the occasion. The event was beautifully hosted by the celebrated TV anchor and renowned poet Farah Iqbal. Attended by community leaders and poetry lovers and Media. Participating poets were, Afzal Khan, Altaf Bukhari , Syed Ayaz Mufti , Basit Jalili , Farah Iqbal, Dr Asaf Riyaz Qadeer and Afzaal Firdous.
