Chicago : Consul General Tariq Karim attended another farewell reception on Chicago’s Devon Avenue, hosted by prominent community members Mr. Tariq Siddiqui and Ms. Shahida Khan. The event brought together members of the Pakistani-American community, local business owners, and professionals.
Community members acknowledged Consul General Karim’s dedicated efforts in advancing Pakistan’s diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagement with the region, as well as his accessible and proactive outreach.


In his remarks, Consul General Karim expressed sincere gratitude to the hosts and the community for their continued support. He highlighted key priorities and milestones achieved during his assignment in the U.S. Midwest, including a rapid increase in exports—nearly doubling in recent years—as well as growing investment flows. He noted, in particular, the growth in Pakistan’s IT sector, with more Midwest-based companies establishing back-office operations in the country, and the landmark $200 million investment in the pink salt industry. He also emphasized sustained engagement with the Pakistani-American community and elected officials as a cornerstone of his approach.
The event served as a warm farewell and a recognition of the deep and enduring ties between Pakistan and the Pakistani-American community in the U.S. Midwest.
