Asia Bibi Case: Federal govt has no plan to put her name on ECL

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday cleared that in Aasia Bibi Case it has nothing to do with the review petition and government has not plan to put Aasia Bibi’s name on Exit Control List (ECL).

The response came after the media reports which stated that review petition has been filed before the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry challenging the top court verdict in Aasia Bibi Case.

On Thursday, the complainant in Asia Bibi case, Qari Muhammad Salaam, filed a review petition through his counsel Azhar Siddiqui against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn her conviction in the blasphemy case, Newsone reported.

A day earlier, the apex court had acquitted Asia Bibi, a Christian woman condemned to death on blasphemy charges, after accepting an appeal against her sentence.

In the review petition, filed at the Lahore registry of the apex court, the complainant has urged the Supreme Court to reconsider it yesterday’s decision granting Asia Bibi’s acquittal.
