ISLAMABAD: Adnan Arif has been appointed as a member of the Central Standing Committee on Media Broadcasting of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for the year 2026, according to an official notification issued on May 4.
The appointment was formally presented by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, marking Arif’s inclusion in a key national platform that brings together media professionals and industry stakeholders to address challenges in Pakistan’s broadcasting and communication sectors.
As part of the committee, Adnan Arif is expected to contribute to policy discussions related to media development, public engagement, and institutional coordination. His role will include participation in deliberations on regulatory challenges, broadcasting standards, and strengthening collaboration between the media and business communities.
Adnan Arif currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Public Purview and is recognized for his contributions to journalism focusing on national, social, and public affairs. His appointment is being viewed as a step toward enhancing the representation of independent media voices in national-level forums.
The FPCCI Central Standing Committee on Media Broadcasting is regarded as an important body aimed at fostering dialogue between policymakers, businesses, and media institutions. It works on recommendations related to media reforms, public communication strategies, and structural challenges faced by the broadcasting sector.
The committee for 2026 is headed by Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Observer, who serves as Convener. The notification was endorsed by Additional Secretary General Amjad Qureshi.
Other members of the committee include prominent media professionals such as Sarmad Ali, Naveed Kashif, Rafay Khan Niazi, Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Pir Haroon Shah, Mohsin Mumtaz Seyal, Waseem Ahmed, Muhammad Humayun Gulzar, and Afnan Mashal.
Observers believe that the inclusion of experienced journalists and media experts in the committee will help strengthen coordination between the media sector and the business community, while also contributing to more effective public communication and policy formulation.
