Pakistan: A suicide blast inside a mosque at Peshawar Police Lines, as a result of which 28 officials were martyred while more than 150 people were injured.
According to the police, Zuhr prayers were being offered in congregation in the mosque of Police Lines, during which the suicide bomber who was in the first row blew himself, and the sound of the explosion was heard far away. SP Noor Zaman also injured in the blast and has been shifted to CMH.
The suicide blast caused the roof of the Mosque to collapse, with several people still trapped under the roof. Law enforcement officials have cordoned off the area. Rescues are engaged in relief activities, evacuating the injured from the mosque.
According to rescue sources, the injured are being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital and the condition of the 18 injured is critical. Lady Reading Hospital management has appealed to the citizens to donate blood.
Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Shafi Ullah Khan confirmed that 25 people have been martyred and at least 120 have been injured in the suicide attack.
Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muhammad Azam Khan imposed a medical emergency in all hospitals of Peshawar. The interim CM also instructed rescue organisations to speed up relief activities.
