ISLAMABAD – In an important breakthrough in the investigations into the kidnapping of a US citizen of Pakistani origin after police on Saturday claimed that her ex-husband, Rizwan Habib, has confessed to killing Wajiha Swati.
Sources privy to the investigation said that ex-husband Rizwan Habib confessed to killing Wajiha during police interrogation. The accused had abducted his ex-wife on arrival in Pakistan.
Police said the Pakistani-American woman was killed on October 16 the same day she arrived in Rawalpindi and accused Rizwan buried her body in Laki Marwat.
A case relating to her abduction was registered at Morgah Police Station in Rawalpindi on the complaint of her son.
On the directions of RPO Rawalpindi, a police team has been sent to Hangu to recover the body.
The police have also arrested the suspect’s father on charges of aiding and abetting the murder.
