The historic Taste of Pakistan in Bolingbrook took place on Saturday, Aug 28, 2021. The Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook has hosted Pakistan Independence Day programs in Bolingbrook in the last 30 years.
Thousands flock to this city each year to witness one of the most well organized and well attended Pakistan Day celebrations in the USA. This year was not different as the host organization the Association of Pakistani Americans of Bolingbrook yet gained another feather in their cap.
The event Taste of Pakistan was hosted at the Bolingbrook performing arts center at 375 W. Briarcliff Rd., Bolingbrook. This year the celebrities invited to perform was no other that the renowned entertainer Alamgir and Saima Kashif. Thousands of attendees packed the complex filled with food, entertainment and music. The event was Grand sponsored by Dr. Nadim Longi and Dr. Moazzam Saeed of Advanced Pediatric Care.
The official flag hoisting was conducted as the APA celebrated 29 years of raising the Pakistani flag at Village hall. The ceremony was conducted by Guests of Honored Mayor of Bolingbrook, Mary Alexander Basta, Consul General of Pakistan, Chicago Hon. Tariq Karim and Former Mayor of Bolingbrook Roger. C. Claar.
Mayor of Bolingbrook, Mary Alexander Basta and Founder, APA Mr. Talat Rashid presented the Community Service with Excellence Award to Consul General of Pakistan, Chicago Hon. Tariq karim at Taste of Pakistan, Bolingbrook. Mr. Talat Rashid founded this organization in 1991. The APA (Association of Pakistani Americans Bolingbrook) attracts over 8000 people or more every year. APA had over 20 elected officials including Consul Gen of Congo Dr. Sylvere Malonga with his wife.
The Taste of Pakistan’s success has always been due to the hard work of its members and the unparalleled level of its sponsors. Grand Sponsors were no other than Advanced Pediatric Care. Other sponsors included JF Labs President Mr. Ali Akhtar, RNA Corp. CEO Mr. Munir Chaudhry, AMITA Bolingbrook Hospital, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, AM Travel and many others.
Before the event ended all the APA volunteers were brought on stage and recognized. The volunteers included Mir Ali, Hamid Bhatti, Aziz Vayani, and Fahim Shehzad.
The event was a huge success at every level. The APA has done it again and has proven to America that they truly bring out the best in the Pakistani American community and are leaders in educating America on all the positive contributions Pakistani Americans continue to make towards its success.
