KARACHI: A prominent Pakistani Muslim leader has called upon pilgrims who have come for Hajj this year to pray for coronavirus pandemic end , global peace and stability during the annual event, the largest gathering witnessed by humanity.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Allama Ahsan Siddiqui has urged the Hajj pilgrims to seek mercy of Almighty Allah while offering prayers at the holy mosques to allow Muslims, as well as people of other faiths in the country, to live peacefully and to continue the nation’s progress.
Allama Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said we have to pray to God, the creator of universe, to solve problems facing people all over the world to help them live in peace and stability. This should be our main prayer during this Hajj. He emphasized the role of Hajj in strengthening unity and solidarity among Muslims. The peace and tranquility of mind can only be found through the religion, Islam forbids any excess against any Muslim or non-Muslim. We must fully comply the teachings of Islam.
All pilgrims wear the same form of clothing and say the same prayers. They glorify God, seek His pardon and blessings and rejuvenate their faith to lead a new life for the benefit of humanity, He said we should be careful that no one can misuse Islam, as the religion never supports killing of innocent people and indulgence in militancy and terrorism, Due to the activities of some misguided people, the whole Muslim Ummah is in danger, she said, adding that Muslims are being harassed around the world and are even being killed. He said while denouncing the group’s heinous crimes. Asked about reasons for growing extremism among Muslim societies, Allama Siddiqui said oppressive policies and human rights violations being committed by governments have played a big role in making Muslim youth to follow extremist path.
Global Peace Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said the people misinterpreting Islam are creating confusion among members of the public, such as claiming that a person who commits suicide would go to haven. But Islam never says that, she said, adding that “we don’t want our country to be ruined in this way. We cannot justify terrorism and at the same time, governments should pay attention to this fact and take corrective measures to protect the rights of Muslims if they really want to eradicate terrorism from the world.
ICPH Chairman said Islamic schools or madrassas across Pakistan have been playing an important role in preventing extremism among Muslims. Our madrassas, mosques and Islamic lectures have played a big role in enlightening the Muslim community and preventing them from terrorism. You will pray to Allah so that his blessings fall on these people and they change their minds.
We have conducted two programs in Pakistan and intend to hold another in Karachi from August 01 to 10, 2020 with the participation of non-Muslims; Muslims want to live peacefully with other communities in accordance with the teachings of Islam, causing no harm to our non-Muslim friends.
