DIG Traffic assured that a Lifter will be made available at the site for removal of broken down vehicles during evening peak hours, as per previous practice, which worked well.

President also requested the DIG Traffic for the removal of illegal truck stands / loading vehicles, Mazda/rickshaw/hand carts and ‘dhabas’ etc.

SSP traffic responded on behalf of DIG Traffic that Traffic Police faces too many problems in removal of illegal truck stands as there is resistance from the vehicle owners who sometimes attack traffic police constables and injure them.

Patron Zubair Motiwala drew DIG’s attention towards the letter sent by the Association highlighting traffic jam issue at Nazimabad and said that after the completion of Orangi Nala bridge extension work, traffic now gets choked at Nazimabad, mainly due to parking of vehicles and dumping of solid waste.

DIG Traffic responded that the matter is in his knowledge and he already issued directives to SSP Traffic, District Central in this regard and added that he will also take up the matter with DC Central for an early resolution as solid waste removal falls under his domain.

Zubair Motiwala briefed about the proposal approved by the CM Sindh costing PKR 1.037 billion for the repair and construction of 19 roads of SITE area and requested DIG traffic to suggest their requirements i.e. speed breakers, signals and U-turns etc. for inclusion in the implementation stage.

DIG Traffic appreciated the idea and stated that it will be better to discuss these matters at the planning stage for improvement, for which, an exclusive meeting shall be convened soon. He added that the roads network has literally been destroyed in the SITE area due to recent rains. Resultantly, traffic police officials are facing more challenging situations to control traffic in this area.
