KWSC CFO Ammar Ali Khan receives congratulations from Hashim Khan for his participation in the World Water Congress 2026.

Chairman of the Pak Ittehad Contractors Association Hashim Khan has congratulated Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) Chief Financial Officer Ammar Ali Khan on his participation in the World Water Congress & Exhibition 2026 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Ammar Ali Khan participated as a panellist in a special session organised by the International Water Association. He briefed international experts and delegates on KWSC’s financial, administrative and institutional reform initiatives.

Hashim Khan said the CFO’s participation had provided an opportunity to present the corporation’s work to a global audience. He also met Ammar Ali Khan after his return to Pakistan.

Association Praises KWSC’s International Engagement

Senior Vice President Malik Qaiser Awan and Vice President Ghulam Nabi also praised the CFO’s participation. They said his presentation helped explain KWSC’s performance and reform efforts to international delegates.

General Secretary Malik Farooq Awan and Joint Secretary Masoom Khan said the participation had brought international attention to the corporation.

Association Information Secretary Aslam Parvez said the engagement could help highlight Karachi’s water and sewerage challenges and future development requirements.

He added that interaction with international water-sector organisations could support technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and potential partnerships.

Hashim Khan Comments on KWSC’s Financial Controls

Hashim Khan described Ammar Ali Khan as a diligent and honest professional. He also praised the corporation’s financial controls and audit procedures.

The association chairman claimed that KWSC had strengthened its audit framework and that payments were issued only after an audit. He said, according to his understanding, no cheque or pay order had been prepared without prior audit clearance.

Khan also alleged that some individuals within the organisation were circulating misleading reports about corruption. He called for the corporation to investigate these allegations and take appropriate action against anyone found responsible.

Dispute Over Audit Authority

Khan further maintained that the corporation’s Chief Internal Auditor held the designated authority to conduct its internal audits.

He questioned the validity of a letter issued by the Assistant Director of Local Fund Audit (ADLFA) following an audit. He argued that the Chief Internal Auditor’s report should be treated as the recognised audit report under the applicable framework.

Khan also questioned the need for a second audit of the same report, saying that duplicate procedures could waste institutional time and financial resources.

These statements represent the association chairman’s position on KWSC’s audit arrangements. The legal authority of the respective audit bodies and the status of the reports would require confirmation from the relevant authorities.

Association Reaffirms Support for Institutional Reforms

Hashim Khan, accompanied by members of the Pak Ittehad Contractors Association cabinet, extended congratulations to Ammar Ali Khan following his participation in the Glasgow event.

The association said international engagement by KWSC officials could help promote Karachi’s water-sector requirements and create opportunities for cooperation with global institutions.
