Workplace Harassment: 521 Men Filed Complaints in One Year

Workplace harassment complaints in Pakistan have increased among both men and women, with official data showing that 521 men filed complaints with the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace during the past year.
According to documents obtained by local media, a total of 1,290 workplace harassment complaints were registered during the year. Moreover, the ombudsperson resolved 1,104 cases, reflecting continued efforts to address workplace misconduct.

The data shows that men accounted for around 40% of all complaints. Meanwhile, the ombudsperson’s head office in Islamabad received the highest number of complaints from both men and women, while Punjab ranked second.
Among male complainants, Islamabad recorded the largest number of cases. In addition, 42 complaints came from Peshawar, 24 from Karachi, and two from Balochistan.
The report also showed that 769 women filed workplace harassment complaints during the same period. Furthermore, 496 women submitted complaints in Islamabad, while 154 cases were reported in Punjab.
The figures indicate that employees from both genders are increasingly using legal channels to report workplace harassment and seek official action.
