Asim Munir and Pakistan Leaders Arrive in Tehran for Ayatollah Khamenei’s Funeral
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior Pakistani officials join international delegations in Tehran to attend funeral ceremonies.

Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Friday to attend the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to state broadcaster PTV.
Iranian officials and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff upon his arrival. Naqvi had reached Tehran earlier.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also travelled to Iran to attend the funeral, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The prime minister was accompanied by Ayaz Sadiq, Ishaq Dar, Attaullah Tarar, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, and Murad Ali Shah.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif will offer condolences to the Iranian leadership and the bereaved family. He will also reaffirm Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Iran. After completing his visit, he will travel to Türkiye.
Earlier, Yousaf Raza Gilani reached Tehran with a high-level delegation to attend the funeral prayers and burial ceremonies. Iranian officials welcomed the delegation on arrival.
Several countries, including China and Afghanistan, as well as neighbouring Caucasus states, have also announced that they will send representatives to the funeral.
Officials said the funeral ceremonies will begin in Tehran before continuing through the holy cities of Qom, Karbala, Najaf, and Mashhad.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said a large public turnout at the funeral would demonstrate national unity and send a strong message against terrorism and violence.
