Google Career Certificates: SABS University secures 500 new student slots after achieving 100% target

The university completed all allocated seats under the first two phases of the programme, enabling 450 students to earn globally recognised Google certifications.

Google Career Certificates have earned Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritages Jamshoro an additional 500 student slots after the institution successfully achieved its 100% enrolment and completion target under the first two phases of the programme.

The new allocation comes under Phase III of the Google Career Certificates Programme, allowing more students to receive internationally recognised certifications in high-demand technology fields. These include Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI Essentials, Cybersecurity, IT Automation, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing and E-Commerce, and Python and Java Development.

SABS University previously received 150 student slots in Phase I and 300 slots in Phase II. After successfully completing both phases, a total of 450 students earned Google Career Certificates, strengthening their digital skills and improving their employment opportunities in the rapidly evolving technology sector.

The Google Career Certificates Programme is an initiative of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) in collaboration with the Science and Information Technology Department and Tech Valley Pakistan. The programme aims to equip university students with globally recognised digital skills and career-focused training that meets the demands of today’s job market.

An online Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony to launch Phase III was held at the Chief Minister Secretariat. During the event, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the Sindh Higher Education Commission, the Science and Information Technology Department, Tech Valley Pakistan, and the vice-chancellors of public and private universities across the province for their collective efforts in making the initiative successful.

Vice-Chancellor of SABS University, Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto, congratulated the university’s IT team, faculty members and students for once again achieving the assigned target and securing 500 additional slots for the next phase.

She said the programme enables students to develop advanced digital skills, improve their career prospects and compete more effectively in the global digital economy.
