Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has appointed Mohammad Nadeem Khan as interim chief executive officer for 14 days, according to a notice filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The appointment took effect on July 2, 2026. Khan replaces Hatem Mohamed Bamatraf, who previously led the company. PTCL said the interim term will last 14 days.

Mohammad Nadeem Khan serves as Group Chief Financial Officer of the PTCL Group, which includes PTCL and Ufone 4G. He brings nearly three decades of experience. He has worked with the PTCL Group for 20 years.

Khan has played a key role in the company’s growth and financial management. He also sits on the Board of Directors of U Microfinance Bank Limited.

In 2023, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) nominated Khan to its Accounting Standards Board for a four-year term. The board oversees accounting standards in Pakistan. It also recommends new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

PTCL incorporated on December 31, 1995, and began operations on January 1, 1996. The company provides domestic and international telecom services across Pakistan.

In 2006, the Government of Pakistan privatized PTCL. It sold a 26 percent stake and management control to Etisalat International Pakistan in a deal worth US$2.6 billion. The transaction remains partly unresolved because of a long-running dispute over property transfers. Etisalat still withholds about US$799 million.

The issue has stayed under discussion in recent years. In January 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Etisalat officials in Dubai to seek a resolution. Later, Transparency International Pakistan urged the government and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to recover the outstanding dues linked to the privatization agreement
