Karachi Procession will take place today as the city’s central 8th Muharram procession emerges from Nishtar Park, where thousands of mourners are expected to gather to commemorate the sacrifice of Hazrat Abbas (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
Before the procession begins, a Majlis-e-Aza will be held at Nishtar Park at 11am. Renowned religious scholar Allama Shehnshah Hussain Naqvi will address participants and highlight the enduring message of Karbala, the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, and the philosophy of martyrdom.
The procession is scheduled to depart at around 12pm under the arrangement of Sadat Amroha. Abul Hasan Scouts and Amroha Scouts will guide the procession along its designated route.

Mourners will perform traditional noha recitations and matam as they proceed through Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, MA Jinnah Road and Numaish Chowrangi. Participants will offer Zuhrain prayers in front of Imambargah Ali Raza before continuing their journey.
The procession will later pass through its traditional routes and conclude at Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar.
Authorities have implemented extensive security and traffic management measures to facilitate mourners and maintain public order throughout the event.

According to security officials, comprehensive arrangements have been completed for the protection of central Muharram processions, religious gatherings and sensitive locations across the city.
A Karachi Police spokesperson said that more than 5,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties. Additional police contingents, reserve forces and snipers have been deployed along procession routes and at sensitive locations.
Police officials added that search and sweep operations will continue to ensure robust security during the observance of 8th Muharram across Karachi.
