Moreover, the Chief Minister emphasized opportunities for stronger engagement in trade, agriculture, information technology, and social welfare. His remarks highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral partnerships at a time when both countries seek new avenues for economic and social development.

Furthermore, he stated that Pakistan and the Philippines continue to enjoy friendly relations based on mutual respect and shared interests. According to his remarks, both countries have strengthened cooperation across several sectors over the years. He also noted that continued engagement could create new opportunities for businesses, educational institutions, and communities in both nations.

The event was attended by Ambassador Dr Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Madam Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, Honorary Consul General Dr Imran Yousuf, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and distinguished guests.

Pakistan-Philippines Cooperation in Trade Growth

Murad Ali Shah highlighted the growing economic relationship between the two countries. He noted that bilateral trade has reached approximately $370 million annually, while Pakistan’s exports account for nearly $350 million of that volume.

In addition, he pointed to Sindh’s significant contribution to agricultural exports. The Philippines remains an important market for Pakistan’s rice exports, particularly IRRI-6 and IRRI-9 varieties produced in Larkana and other regions of Sindh. He welcomed further agricultural collaboration and said the existing trade relationship demonstrates strong potential for future growth.

As a result, stakeholders from both countries may explore additional opportunities in food production, agribusiness, and export development. These sectors could play an important role in expanding economic cooperation in the coming years.

Philippines and Sindh Explore IT Opportunities

The Chief Minister also discussed opportunities in information technology and business process outsourcing. He noted that the Philippines has emerged as a global leader in the BPO sector and has developed extensive expertise in digital services.

Meanwhile, institutions in Sindh, including the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board, are reportedly exploring partnerships and knowledge-sharing initiatives with Philippine organizations. Such cooperation could help strengthen workforce development and enhance digital capabilities.

He stated that collaboration in technology and skills development remains an important area for future engagement. Therefore, both sides may benefit from sharing expertise, training programs, and innovation strategies.

Murad Ali Shah Discusses Social Welfare Partnerships

Murad Ali Shah also highlighted cooperation in social welfare initiatives. He appreciated ongoing engagement between the National Council on Disability Affairs of the Philippines and Sindh’s Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

According to his remarks, these partnerships can help both sides exchange best practices and improve support systems for persons with disabilities. He further praised social responsibility initiatives undertaken by the Philippines Consulate, particularly programs focused on children with autism.

Additionally, stalls representing disability empowerment programs, workforce development initiatives, and autism-related projects were displayed during the event. He stated that these efforts reflect a shared commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and human development.

Karachi Strengthens Philippines Community Relations

The Chief Minister said Karachi has long welcomed diversity and international cooperation. He acknowledged the contributions of the Filipino community to the city’s social and cultural landscape through professional and community engagement.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed Sindh’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Philippines in trade, education, healthcare, tourism, cultural exchanges, and technology. He stated that greater cooperation could deliver mutual benefits for people in both countries.

The Chief Minister concluded by congratulating the Ambassador, the Consulate, and the Filipino community on the occasion. He also expressed his best wishes for continued peace, prosperity, and progress for the Philippines while reaffirming support for stronger Pakistan-Philippines Cooperation in the years ahead.
