Karachi — The International Lawyers Forum (ILF) marked International Labour Day with an award ceremony recognizing the contributions of working women across diverse sectors, highlighting their role in Pakistan’s development from the independence movement to the present day.

Speaking at the event, ILF Chairman Nasir Ahmed Advocate stated that women have played a vital and continuous role in the progress of Pakistan, adding that they are now actively contributing across all professional fields, including law, healthcare, education, social work, business, and public service.
He described working women as a source of national pride and assured that the ILF would continue to provide legal and institutional support to women facing professional or personal challenges in the workplace.
The ceremony, organized in connection with Labour Day (May 1), honored 25 women for their services and achievements in various sectors, including healthcare workers, lawyers, educators, social activists, students, entrepreneurs, and members of civil society.
Among the awardees were polio workers, nurses from major healthcare institutions, student leaders, advocates, social workers affiliated with welfare organizations, architects, security professionals, businesswomen, and representatives of religious and minority community institutions.
The event was attended by lawyers, civil society members, and representatives from minority communities, reflecting broad-based participation and recognition of women’s contributions across different segments of society.
The ceremony was hosted by Sumble Bhatti, and organizers emphasized the importance of continued empowerment, recognition, and protection of working women in Pakistan’s evolving socio-economic landscape.
