According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the UN chief commended Dar for advancing regional peace efforts at a critical time when tensions in the Middle East remain high following weeks of conflict.

FM Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to ensuring regional peace and stability, reaffirming Islamabad’s readiness to continue facilitating communication between conflicting parties.

In a series of additional diplomatic engagements, FM Dar also held separate telephone conversations with foreign ministers from Romania, Türkiye, Kuwait, the European Union, and Canada, all of whom acknowledged Pakistan’s role in hosting and enabling the US–Iran dialogue process.

Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts, while Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed regional developments and upcoming diplomatic engagements, including the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Sabah also lauded Pakistan’s contribution to peace efforts, reaffirming strong bilateral relations and support for continued dialogue.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand separately appreciated Pakistan’s facilitation role, stressing the importance of sustained diplomacy and adherence to ceasefire commitments.

Officials said Pakistan remains actively engaged with multiple international partners to sustain momentum following the recent Islamabad talks, which brought senior US and Iranian delegations together for the highest-level contact in decades.

Although the negotiations did not produce an agreement, the ceasefire remains intact, and diplomatic efforts are continuing to prepare for a possible second round of talks.

Pakistan has repeatedly emphasised that only dialogue, not escalation, can resolve the ongoing crisis, and continues to position itself as a key mediator in the evolving regional situation.
