Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with Sakinan-e-Shehr-e-Quaid, hosted a special ceremony honoring US-based poet and community leader Dr Noor Amrohvi at Haseena Moin Hall. The event recognized Dr Amrohvi’s outstanding contributions to Urdu literature, poetry, and intercultural harmony.

President of the Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, attended as chief guest and presented a shield to Dr Noor Amrohvi. Shah praised the talent emerging from the land of Amroha and highlighted the global literary community’s shared bond through knowledge and awareness. He lauded Dr Noor Amrohvi as a multidimensional personality balancing spiritual and worldly pursuits.
Khalid Irfan, who presided over the ceremony, noted Dr Amrohvi’s efforts to foster love and harmony, including organizing mushairas among Hindu and Pakistani communities in the United States. He highlighted Dr Amrohvi’s long-standing tradition of hosting two major annual events: an international mushaira and a naat recitation gathering, with the latter running for 23 consecutive years.
Other speakers praised Dr Noor Amrohvi’s literary and cultural contributions. Dr Ambareen Haseeb Amber emphasized the poet’s humility and highlighted themes of migration and maternal love in his poetry. Mahmood Ahmed Khan commended his service to Urdu literature abroad, while Rizwan Siddiqui, Junaid Iqbal, Tariq Sabzwari, and Dr Auj-e-Kamal lauded his poetic mastery, international influence, and promotion of Urdu language and literature.
In his address, Dr Noor Amrohvi expressed gratitude to attendees and described himself as a “person of love,” underscoring the role of compassion and cultural connection in his work. He concluded, “We are ambassadors of love, and that is our true identity and greatest asset, which we strive to spread across the world.”
