1 Arrested, 1160 Illegal Gas Connections Removed

Karachi : Sui Southern Gas Company has been pulling out all stops to bring down the menace of gas theft in its franchise provinces of Sindh and Baluchistan. In an intensive grand anti-gas theft crackdown drive in Karachi & other regions, SS&CGTO along with CRD Theft Section, Distribution Department, SSGC Police & Local Police continued to conduct multiple raids at different locations in Karachi region.

Recently, a raid was carried out at Water Hydrant Factory, Saeedabad, Baldia, Karachi, where the culprit was stealing gas directly from the Company’s main distribution line to run a heavy gas generator. The culprit Raheemullah S/o Muhammad Umer Khan was arrested on the spot and FIR has been lodged against him.

In another raid at Rind Goth, Scheme 33, Karachi, the team detected an underground connection leading from SSGC’s main distribution line. This illegal connection was being used to supply gas to 250 households, and the culprits were charging Rs. 40,000/- as advance payment, and Rs. 1,500/- on monthly basis. FIR has been registered against o Chandzaib Khan S/o Khakan Khan, o Wali Jan S/o Mir Ahmed Khan, and Malik Dad Chandio S/o Gul Bahar Chandio who were involved in this crime.

After surveying Gulshan-e-Muazzam Society, Bin Qasim, Karachi, the team found another underground illegal connection that was supplying gas to approximately 150 houses. Culprits were charging Rs. 50,000/- as advance payment, and Rs. 2,500/- on monthly basis. FIR has been registered against Masroor Ali S/o Muhammad Nawaz Sayal, and Ghulam Fareed S/o Juma Khan. In another raid at Chashma Goth, Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi, an underground gas theft was detected that was supplying gas to 60 houses. The culprits were charging Rs. 40,000/- as advance and Rs. 2,000/- as monthly payment. FIR was registered against Nadeem Baloch S/o Ali Sher, Agha Syed Ziauddin S/o. Haji Badar Din, Kamal S/o Ali Sher, and Nasim Gul S/o Waheed Gul.

Meanwhile, a major raid was carried out at Goth Wasand Khan (Kalmati Chowk), Sector 30/C, 30/F, 30/D, Shah Latif Town, Karachi, where gas was being stolen through an underground connection linked to SSGC’s main distribution line. Gas was being supplied to approx. 700 houses who were paying Rs. 2,000/- on monthly basis, having paid Rs. 35,000/- as advance for these illegal connections. FIR was registered against three culprits, namely; Allah Wadhaya S/o Allah Wasaya, Javed Abbasi, and Dil Jan Marwat.

All equipment used for stealing gas was removed on the spot, and claims will be raised accordingly against those involved in these heinous crimes. It should be noted that gas theft is a crime against the community and SSGC will continue to crackdown against all those involved in this immoral act.
