LAHORE: The Saudi Riyal (SAR) to Pakistani Rupee (PKR) exchange rate slipped marginally in the open market on Wednesday, 3 September 2025. The buying price of SAR was recorded at Rs75.07, while the selling price stood at Rs75.27.

The SAR to PKR exchange rate is closely tracked in Pakistan since the country hosts the largest number of its overseas workers in Saudi Arabia. Daily fluctuations occur due to demand and supply, trade trends, and broader economic conditions.

Impact on Pakistan and Overseas Pakistanis

  • Overseas Workers and Families
Millions of Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia send regular remittances, which serve as a lifeline for their families back home. A stronger Riyal increases the value of these remittances, while a weaker one reduces it.
  • Foreign Exchange Reserves
These remittances significantly contribute to Pakistan’s foreign reserves, strengthening the economy and supporting stability.
  • Importers and Businesses
Businesses relying on imports from Saudi Arabia face changing costs with currency fluctuations. A weaker Rupee makes imports more expensive, fueling inflation.
  • Pilgrims and Religious Tourism
For Pakistani pilgrims performing Hajj or Umrah, a weaker Rupee means higher travel and accommodation expenses, affecting religious tourism and related industries.
