Jasbir Singh, a 41-year-old travel and food vlogger from Rupnagar, Punjab, has recently been arrested by Indian authorities on serious charges of espionage linked to Pakistan. Singh operates a popular YouTube channel called “JaanMahal Video”, boasting over 1.1 million subscribers, where he shares content from his international travels to countries like Malaysia, Maldives, and Thailand. He also has a notable presence on Instagram with around 42,000 followers, branding himself as a food vlogger.
According to the Indian police, Jasbir Singh was arrested by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali as part of an investigation into a suspected espionage network. Authorities allege that Singh had established ties with Pakistani intelligence operatives, including Ehsaan-ur-Raheem (also known as Danish), a former official at the Pakistan High Commission who was recently expelled from India, and Shakir (alias Jatt Randhawa), believed to be a Pakistani intelligence officer.
Police further claim that Jasbir Singh had attended a Pakistan National Day event in Delhi at Danish’s invitation, where he reportedly interacted with Pakistani army officials and vloggers. Singh had also travelled to Pakistan three times—in 2020, 2021, and 2024—raising suspicions among intelligence officials. Following the arrest of another individual, Jyoti Malhotra, Singh allegedly tried to erase all evidence of his communications with Pakistani contacts.
Forensic analysis of Singh’s electronic devices reportedly revealed multiple Pakistan-based phone numbers, which are now under scrutiny. An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the espionage network.
The arrest is being seen as a major development in what Indian authorities describe as an expanding probe into espionage and terrorism links involving social media influencers and digital creators.
