A plan to introduce an international standard-based grading system for modernizing the healthcare sector in the province of Sindh is currently in its initial stages. Once implemented, hospitals will be graded based on their performance and available facilities. Quacks pose a serious threat to society, and a comprehensive campaign against them is already underway.

These views were expressed by dr. Ahsan Qavi Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer of the Sindh Healthcare Commission, during a special ceremony held yesterday at the Bait-ul-Hikmah Auditorium, Madinat al-Hikmah, Karachi, to award regular license certificates to Hamdard University Hospital (Taj Complex) and Naimat Begum Hamdard University Hospital. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Sadia Rashid, President of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan and recipient of the Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

Siddiqui further stated that quality healthcare means providing patients with modern medical facilities that are easily accessible and affordable. He praised Hamdard Pakistan hospitals for maintaining high standards and fully complying with the regulations set by the Sindh Healthcare Commission. He added that Hamdard, founded by the great Pakistani Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, holds a special place in the nation’s service landscape and, therefore, carries greater expectations.

“Maintaining high standards is a continuous process,” he emphasized. “Self-accountability must be part of our daily routine. Healthcare is not just about doctors and nurses—it also includes hospital administrators, who are key stakeholders in the delivery of quality services.”

Brigadier (r) Dr. Riaz-ul-Haq, Chief Executive of Hamdard Hospital, expressed his satisfaction on the occasion, stating, “Today is a moment of pride. The medical efforts of our hospitals have been formally recognized at the official level. This achievement is the result of our dedication, hard work, and tireless efforts.”

The ceremony was also attended by Professor Dr. Syed Shabib ul Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Hamdard University, and other distinguished guests. At the conclusion, Ms. Sadia Rashid received the regular license certificates on behalf of the hospitals and presented commemorative shields to the honoured guests in appreciation of their contributions.
