Karachi: Saadi Shirazi, Great Muslim Persian Poet: Narrator of Unity, Love and Common Bonds
April 21st is the Birth Anniversary of the Great Persian Literature Poet, Saadi Shirazi. The occasion is adjusted into the Iranian calendar as the National Day for the Commemoration of Saadi Shirazi or Saadi Day.
Saadi is widely recognized for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts as well as for the didactic proses and anecdotes. As a dedicated Muslim, some of the most beautiful lines of Saadi are the eulogy of the Great Prophet of Islam.
Among the artistic inspirations of Saadi is a famous poem known as “Human beings ” which says:
“Human beings are members of a whole
In creation, of one essence and soul
If one member is afflicted with pain Other members uneasy will remain
If you have no sympathy for human pain
The name of human you cannot retain.”
The National Commemoration Day of Persian poet Shaykh Saadi Shirazi and the Death Anniversary of the Great Pakistani Poet, Allama Iqbal, coincides in the calendar and presents an occasion to Commemorate these two iconic pillars of wisdom and didactics.
The two poets and Philosopher cherish high reverence in Iran and Pakistan and the spirit of their art, wisdom and poetry is etched into every fabric of the Iranian and Pakistan people as the herald love, unity and mortality.
