A protest by lawyers in Hyderabad has caused major disruptions to traffic between Karachi and Punjab. The demonstration stems from a legal conflict between the local police and the legal community after a case was registered against Advocate Ali Raza for allegedly using a fake number plate.
The protesting lawyers are demanding the removal of SSP Hyderabad, Farukh Lanjhar, and the dismissal of the SHO of Bhittai Nagar police station. They are also calling for the withdrawal of the fraud case against fellow lawyers.
The protest, which began at Wadhu Wah Gate on the Hyderabad Bypass, has brought traffic to a complete halt, severely affecting the bypass that connects the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway with the National Highway. Long queues of vehicles have formed, leaving passengers stranded.
Sindh High Court Bar Association President Advocate Ayaz Hussain Tunio has warned that if their demands are not met, the protest will be extended nationwide.
