Karachi : I would like to highlight the growing trend of hovering parents, often referred to
as “helicopter parenting”. While it is natural for parents to care for their children,
over-involvement can lead to major problems especially their independence and
development. Many young people today struggle with anxiety and low self-
esteem, mostly because of their parents’ overprotectiveness. Constant
supervision, excessive strictness and intervention can prevent children from
learning important life skills such as problem solving and leadership qualities.I
encourage parents to find a balance between guiding and giving their children
room to grow and make mistakes. Supporting independence will better prepare
the children for the challenges of adulthood rather than constant interference.
Thank you for your consideration of this important issue.
