Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, led by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met today to discuss sugar exports. They approved a plan to export 40,000 metric tons of sugar to Tajikistan, but this is dependent on further talks with the Tajik side. The final agreement will need to be approved by the ECC after these discussions.
The ECC also agreed to export an additional 100,000 metric tons of surplus sugar. They noted that sugar prices have been going down since July, and there is enough sugar available to meet local needs until January next year.
In another matter, the ECC approved Rs. 456.600 million to support the Frontier Corps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South). This funding will be used to build eight facilities for women in tribal areas.
The meeting included several key ministers and officials, such as the Minister for Industries and the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. The focus was on ensuring a stable supply of sugar while also managing exports effectively.
