Rawalakot, Kashmir – The Diabetes Centre (TDC) today unveiled its groundbreaking “Hospital on Wheels” initiative, launching its first mobile clinic in the remote region of Rawalakot, Kashmir. This innovative project aims to bring comprehensive diabetes care directly to underserved communities, ensuring that patients have access to crucial medical services without the need for long commutes.

The launch event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, setting a peaceful and spiritual tone for the occasion. Mr. Jamil Hussain, Head of Kashmir Projects, spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of providing quality healthcare to those in need.

Mr. Sardar Faraquat Hussain Khan generously donated land near the Bagh Link Road, where the TDC’s clinic has been established. This clinic will serve as a pivotal hub for the community’s healthcare needs and will be revisited every three months. TDC has already established its clinics in Rawalakot, Bagh Link Road, and Shujabad, further expanding its reach in the region.

Syed Mohsin Ali Gardazi, District Health Officer (DHO) of Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), served as the chief guest at the inauguration. Mr. Gardazi praised the initiative, highlighting its significance in providing specialized care to areas like Rawalakot, where access to healthcare can be limited.

The Hospital on Wheels will operate weekly clinics focusing on diabetes and related complications. Every three months, the clinic will return to previously visited locations to follow up with patients, ensuring continuity of care. The service includes laboratory facilities, a pharmacy, and consultation services – everything required to diagnose, monitor, and treat diabetes effectively.

The success of this project would not have been possible without the generous support of donors and partners. TDC extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals and organizations who have made this initiative a reality. Special thanks are due to Mr. Sardar Faraquat Hussain Khan for his generous land donation and to TDC Australia and the Healthy Hearts Organization.

The next stop for the Hospital on Wheels will be in Sahiwal, followed by Karak. Each location will host the clinic for one week, ensuring extensive care across multiple regions. After three months, the clinic will return to its original locations for follow-up treatments, forming a continuous care loop for diabetes patients.
