United States: The United States has warned Pakistan about the potential risks of its involvement in the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project. In a recent briefing, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller highlighted that US sanctions on Iran are still active and advised caution for anyone doing business with Iran, given the possible consequences.

The pipeline, meant to stretch 80 kilometers from Gwadar to Iran, has seen significant delays since its original 2014 deadline. Construction has resumed, and the project is now expected to be completed in about two years at a cost of Rs44 billion.

Despite these concerns, Miller assured that the US is committed to helping Pakistan address its energy needs. “We are dedicated to supporting Pakistan’s energy security,” he said. He also condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan that claimed over 50 lives, expressing deep sympathy for the victims and their families. Miller reaffirmed the US’s commitment to standing with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, underscoring a shared interest in regional stability during these challenging times.
