Karachi : A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi to review the measures to control profiteering. All deputy commissioners attended the meeting and presented details of the actions taken in their respective districts. Assistant Commissioner Head Quarters Commissioner Office Rabia Syed gave a briefing to the meeting on the details available on the specially created Digital Dashboard for monitoring. She informed the meeting about the details of price checking locations and actions taken against violators by Assistant Commissioners. All Assistant Commissioners were present on the video link and briefed the Commissioner about their actions.
The Commissioner appreciated the performance of various Assistant Commissioners in enforcing official prices. Assistant Commissioners of Ferozabad and Airport were asked to explain why they did not check prices in different areas. The Commissioner said that efforts are needed to make the anti-profiteering campaign effective. All Assistant Commissioners will take action every day, and those who do not will have to explain. The meeting was informed about the details of the action taken against profiteers during the last week from August 4 to August 10, according to which a total fine of Rs 15 lakh 22 thousand 576 was imposed in all districts. In District South, a fine of Rs 5 lakh 63 thousand 500 was imposed on 121 profiteers, in District East, 82 shopkeepers were fined over Rs 2 lakh for violating official prices, in District West, 38 shopkeepers were fined Rs 32 thousand, in District Central, a fine of over Rs 3 lakh 51 thousand was imposed on 125 shopkeepers, in District Malir, a fine of Rs 32 thousand was imposed on 90 shopkeepers, in Korangi, a fine of Rs 1 lakh 19 thousand was imposed on 52 shopkeepers, and in Keamari, a fine of Rs 2 lakh 24 thousand was imposed on 68 shopkeepers.”
