United States: The Pakistani Embassy in Washington, DC, hosted a heartfelt event on August 5 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of India’s controversial actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Known as “Youm-e-Istehsal” (Day of Exploitation), the gathering brought together a diverse group of attendees, including academics, human rights advocates, and members of the Pakistani-American community.
Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Fareha Bugti spoke passionately about Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. She condemned India’s unilateral actions and urged the global community to uphold UN Security Council resolutions and address the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
The event featured messages from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister, along with a video address from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. The audience heard moving testimonies from speakers like Mushaal Hussein Mullick and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, who shared the harsh realities faced by Kashmiris under occupation.
A photo exhibition and the documentary “Unheard: The Invisible Trauma of Kashmiris” provided a powerful visual narrative of the human rights abuses occurring in the region. The event highlighted a call for international solidarity and urgent action to end the suffering in Kashmir.
