Karachi – Ms. Syeda Saeeda Bano, President of Karachi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KWCCI) District East and Former Vice President of FPCCI, has condemned the high electricity tariffs resulting from IPPs contracts, which are adversely affecting all industries.
Ms. Bano highlighted that women entrepreneurs, who have imported machinery for cottage industries, are unable to install it due to these excessive costs. She stated, “This financial strain discourages women from supporting and contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.”
She urged the government to review and renegotiate the IPPs contracts to ensure fair and affordable electricity rates, which are crucial for the sustainability of industries and the empowerment of women entrepreneurs.
