Karachi: A meeting of the Bird Hazard Control Committee was held at Pakistan Air Force Base Masroor Large birds hovering over remains of sacrificial animals wreak havoc on aircraft: Air Commodore Mohammad Umar Base Commander PAF Base Masroor Additional Deputy Commissioner of District Kemari Mr. Peeral Chandio assured timely disposal of sacrificial materials.
Briefing on Bird Hazard by Squadron Leader Saddam Anwar Flight Safety Officer PAF Base Masroor, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kemari Peeral Chandio, Press Information Officer Ashfaq Ahmed Chandio, Deputy Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Wahidur Rehman, Municipal Corporation Officer Ahmed Sheikh, SP Ali Anwar Somer and others attended the meeting. Officer Commanding Flying Wing Group Captain Waqas Amjad, Officer Commanding Administrative Wing Group Captain Junaid Afzal, Officer Commanding Security Wing Imran Ayub on behalf of PAF Base Masroor also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the destruction caused by the collision of the birds attracted to the sacrificial offerings during the low-level flight of the aircraft. Therefore, if the sacrificial remains of animals are not disposed properly, birds like sparrows and jackals will be attracted to it, which can cause great destruction for the pilot and the aircraft alike. Peeral Chandio, Additional Deputy Commissioner District Kemari assured timely disposal of the sacrificial remains and issued instructions to the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board and Tehsil Corporation to fully cooperate with the Pakistan Air Force.
The public is informed that orders have been issued by the District Administration to throw the sacrificial items only at designated places otherwise legal action will be taken by the police. During the briefing, attention was paid to the possible damage caused by pigeons and kites during the flight of the aircraft. The losses were highlighted on which orders for strict legal action have already been issued by the Chief Secretary Sindh.
Further, Peeral Chandio, Additional Deputy Commissioner District Kemari said that orders have been issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kemari to take legal action against those who fired in the air under Section 144 and Aircraft Safety Act, 1965, on which SP Ali Anwar Soomro assured strict measures.
During the meeting, the organization of cleanliness in the vicinity of PAF Base Masroor was reviewed and instructions were issued for the organization of a large-scale cleaning campaign in the municipality and site areas. Air Commodore Mohammad Umar Base Commander PAF Base Masroor appreciated the efforts and cooperation of Kemari Karachi administration for the national duty.
