Italy: Turin is set to host a captivating exhibition showcasing the works of renowned 19th-century French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Titled “Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec – The World of the Circus and Montmartre,” the exhibition will open at the Mastio della Cittadella on April 20th.
Organized by Navigare srl and supported by the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, the exhibition will feature over 100 artworks, including posters, illustrations, and lithographs from private Spanish collections. Curated by Joan Abelló, the exhibition will offer a unique glimpse into the life and artistry of Toulouse-Lautrec, known for his bohemian lifestyle and iconic works capturing the spirit of Parisian nightlife.
The exhibition will be divided into five sections, each focusing on different aspects of Toulouse-Lautrec’s life and work. Visitors can explore the artist’s graphic advertising work, his intimate portrayals of women in the “Elles” series, his fascination with the circus, his expressive portraits, and experience a multimedia journey through his world.
Among the highlights of the exhibition are Toulouse-Lautrec’s famous posters for the cabarets and clubs of Montmartre, as well as his poignant portraits of individuals from various walks of life. The exhibition aims to not only celebrate Toulouse-Lautrec’s artistic legacy but also to provide insight into the social and cultural milieu of the Belle Époque era in France.
The exhibition will run until July 21st, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of Toulouse-Lautrec and the Belle Époque.
