Jamshoro: Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad Prof. Dr.
Mukhtar Ahmed has emphasized to create a conducive learning environment and promote industry-
academia collaboration. He assured to resolve financial constraints and provide high quality
academic facilities at Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and
Heritages, Jamshoro. Dr. Mukhtar directed that the future appointments may be made purely on
temporary and pensionless to avoid burden. Dr. Bhutto informed him about special pay scale for
fresh appointments already approved by SABS university.
He stated while talking to chairpersons, administrative staff and other officials during his visit to
SABS University Jamshoro. He was welcomed by the Vice-chancellor SABS University Prof. Dr.
Arabella Bhutto alongwith her team. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed laid the foundation stone of central library
and canteen at SABS University Jamshoro. The visit of such a prominent figure underscores SABS
University’s significance and remarkable progress in a relatively short span of time. During the visit,
the Chairman engaged in various activities, including a campus tour, interaction with faculty and
visit to art display arranged by students. HEC Chairman held a meeting with VC SABS, faculty
members and administrative staff, where the matters related to enhancing education quality and
current financial position of the University were discussed.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed expressed heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable efforts and dedication made
by the SABS and Vice-chancellor Dr. Arabella Bhutto in promoting and uplifting education as well
as research quality on campus. The Chairman commended SABS as a leading art institution in higher
education and emphasized to have its own name, fame and recognition throughout the globe in
available sources. He praised Dr. Bhutto’s exceptional leadership in driving the university towards
excellence on basis of quality education, research and innovation. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized
to hunt the textile, garments and other industries in nearby areas to create a conducive learning
environment and promote industry-academia collaboration. Dr. Bhutto mentioned SABS Intellectual
Property (IP) Policy which is evaluated by IP team at HEC and UST. In addition she mentioned
about visit to chairman IPO for establishing IP Support Center at SABS University.
In the end Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed assured to provide financial, moral and technical support required by
SABS University and aimed to enhance it further as the economic condition is stabilized overall.
Earlier Dr. Mukhtar was briefed about financial matters, expenditures, fees structures, infrastructure,
pension and other related matters by deputy director finance Asif Ali Shar.
The Chairman was accompanied by Director HEC Javed Ali Memon and VC Sindh Agriculture
University Tandojam Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari. Vice chancellor SABS Dr. Arabella Bhutto
decorated the guests with traditional Ajrak and souvenirs.
