Impact Of  Expensive Electric Supply On The Economy Of Our Country.

Muhammad Noman Saigal Former Minister and Chairman Standing Committee FPCCI has shown deep concern over the impact of expensive electricity in our beloved country. Various countries have paid extra ordinary attention to provide free electricity to the public sector including China and India. Specially in India no bill is charged to the limit of 200 units and a minimum payment is charged above 200 units as well. The success of the Chinese Industrial boom is due to the free electricity for the corporate sector. The population is huge in these countries but they give priority to the power sector for common people and thus made them the business giants.

Electricity Rate Per Unit In Asian Countries

In Pakistan, the rate is approximately 50 PKR per unit, Bhutan has rate of 4.71 PKR per unit, Srilanka has 27.44 PKR per unit, India has 21.68 PKR per unit, Bangladesh has 20.83 PKR per unit, Nepal has 13.34 PKR per unit, Maldives has 30.34 PKR per unit, Afghanistan has 13.74 PKR per unit, Iran has 9.43 PKR per unit, Malaysia has 14.47 PKR per unit, Thailand has 40.76 PKR per unit, Indonesia has 28.76 PKR per unit, Japan has 72.13 PKR per unit, China has 22.77 PKR per unit, Turkey has 25.02 PKR per unit, Saudi Arabia has 14.60 PKR per unit, Myanmar has 8.77 PKR per unit, Vietnam has 0.022 PKR per unit, Bahrain has 14.52 PKR per unit, Oman has 7.9 PKR per unit.

We need to focus on reducing rates of electricity in spite of the fact that we are producing electricity via Green Energy as well. Unless the rates come down we can’t guarantee the enhancement in the economy of our country. Instead of complaining the nation should propose any solution including the leaders, professionals, Scientists, Govt and all  the well wishers of our country. Advice is also needed by successful countries like China to enable us to resolve this important issue. The Govt future policies should give priority to control the electric price crises.
