Ukraine Raises Concern with Israel Over ‘Stolen’ Grain Shipment

Andrii Sybiha has raised concerns with Gideon Sa’ar over a Russian vessel reportedly carrying Ukrainian grain that was allowed to dock at an Israeli port.

During a telephone conversation, the Ukrainian foreign minister stressed that the shipment was part of what Kyiv considers the illegal export of agricultural products taken from territories occupied by Russia since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Sybiha said such exports form part of Moscow’s broader war strategy and urged that trade involving what Ukraine describes as “stolen goods” should not be permitted.

Kyiv maintains that grain produced in regions annexed or claimed by Russia — including Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014 — remains Ukrainian property under international law.

Ukrainian officials estimate that Russia has moved millions of tonnes of grain through the Black Sea since the start of the conflict, with claims that over 15 million tonnes have been taken since the full-scale war began.

In addition to the grain issue, the two foreign ministers also discussed broader security concerns and developments in the Middle East, reaffirming their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation on bilateral and regional matters.
